When I was visiting Spain, Awen & José's connection was quite fast (when it was working :D)... as fast as mine is here at home. I believe it's a fiber line (correct me if I'm wrong, Awen) like ours. I believe ours typically runs at about 54mbps. This article called "up to 100mbps" on a fiber line "superfast." Yeah, ours also runs "up to 100 mbps" which is another way of saying "no more than 100 mbps." 54's pretty fast, though.

So, yeah, I guess what I'm saying is, is the UK behind Spain?

You know, it's all a snare. We did hire a 100 Mbps service, and in the computer it does say that. But turns out the phone company, who takes care of the physical lines that run under the pavement and asphalt, doesn't have any lines that support anything over 30 Mbps. Nonsense yeah, but that's how it goes. We couldn't hire anything under 100 Mbps, so one day, when Telefonica agrees to change the cable and wirework, then we'll actually have 100 Mbps, not just pay for it!

But all in all, 30 Mbps is fast enough. Most of the times we don't use all of it, except for when we're downloading junk from Ares or Soulseek.
